Training

Before you go into the classroom to lead your seminar you will need to take part in a one-off training session lasting up to three hours. This is designed to help you communicate what you do in your everyday business life to a student audience.

You can either encourage the relevant HR or community liaison contact at your company to speak to us and organise a training session at your office for you and your colleagues, or come along to one of the sessions held at businessdynamics' offices in London.

To register your interest in volunteering please email volunteering@businessdynamics.org.uk

Following the training you will be well prepared, with your businessdynamics Seminar Leader notes and the confidence to engage with a student audience, but here are a few useful to tips to bear in mind:

  1. Keep your Seminar as interactive as possible - students learn more through active participation with the topic.
  2. Keep your talking part of the Seminar relevant and concise, letting students do the work and giving feedback where possible.
  3. Adapt to your audience - this is a key difference from presenting to your peers in the business world. A good teacher adjusts their presentation and content to suit their audience's level, despite prior preparation.
  4. Relate your content to a teenager's world as far as possible - that way the student is more likely to engage with the topic area. Ensure that you keep it simple with no more than three key messages in an hour Seminar.

The notes which you will receive after your training contain more detail as well as other activities and tips.

Thanks to United Business Media plc for their support in this initiative.
